Broken paw!

So the last few days Jager has been really limping around and we have noticed some major swelling on her right rear leg on her outer paw. When we had went to Puppy classes last Wed we had noticed some cactus and thought she might of gotten something stuck in her paw then, because we noticed her limping after that day. It has continued to get worse over the weekend, so today we took her to our awesome Vet- Rick Helms here in G Falls(who we have gotten to know quite well, since it seems like we have been there every other week since we got Jager). Once examining her, he said it looked like a broken toe which the X-ray confirmed. On the X-ray there is a diagonal fracture of the bone on the right side. Because of the type of break, nothing can be done for her other than baby aspirin every 12 hours. Sounds like it could take up to 6 weeks to heal on its own. The swelling should be reduced with the aspirin and will help with her pain and discomfort. We have no clue how she broke her foot, but I guess she could of just got it stuck or caught between something. Also we had to post pone her getting spayed until the middle of Dec so she can heal up her bum foot in the mean time. He didn't want her to have two wounds in at once . . . . . . . . Poor Jager! She is a tough girl!

Elk Hunting

Well, I(Bob) got out for a few days this weekend to go Elk hunting in the Little Belt Mountains south of Stanford. I have a spot that I like a lot, its up on a ridge with some high meadows. It takes some hiking to get into, but its worth the walk which I think helps keeps some of the competition out. While I havent gotten an elk yet, I had a great experience on Sunday when a dozen elk appeared in front of me and moved by me within 30 yards. I could of taken anyone I wanted, but decided to hold off as 10 of them were cows and 2 where young spikes. Still looking for that bull elk, but I might get less picky in the next week or two. I couldnt risk moving to get the camera while the elk where close, but here are some pictures of the area I was hunting.

Bach party

Last night was a double bachelorette and bachelor party for our friends Kristi and Tim.(I am a bridesmaid in their wedding). They are getting married on Dec 6th. in Stanford. So we all went to dinner at the Bar 19 and then off to bowling to celebrate. Later we ended up at the Eagles bar for a live band and dancing. We all had a great time.

Birthdays

This is the month for Birthdays! Janet (Melissa's mom) was on the 3rd and Jen (Melissa's sister) is today-6th and Bobs is on the 14th. All with in a couple weeks. We love family birthdays!!! Happy Birthday to All!

Even though it was Jen's B-day today, the National Weather Service was holding a meeting . The meeting was held all day at a local hotel conference room, and then this evening it was moved over to Tony Romas restaurant for the rest of our spouses. A few weeks back Melissa & I had to fill out this fill in the circle test of which best describes you and your personality. The test was called a Meyer Briggs Type Indicator test. The MBTI gives you four different types or indicators that explains your personality. The main reason for the training was to help you learn more about yourself and how to interact and communicate better with others. The test results were not really surprising, showing that Melissa and I were mirror opposites on all four indicators. I(Bob) am an Introvert-Sensor-Thinker-Judge and Melissa is an Extrovert-Intuitor-Feeler-Perceiver. Our Introvert/Extrovert outcome was no surprise. I(Bob) tend to look for facts and things that can be proved by the senses and like to follow things in order, while Melissa sees the big picture and creative possibilities and can be a lot more spontaneous.

Sometimes Melissa and I see things differently (not a bad thing at all), but after taking the test we are more aware of how we are wired differently. A good example is the above pictures. I see it as criminal vandalism imported on trains into Montana from the larger cities. Melissa sees it as artwork. Very talented individuals with much potential but needing guidance. Luckily we are both very open minded and can see each others opinions as two different ways of looking at the same thing. Actually a very great pair to keep us balanced in everyday life.

Jager

So today was our last day of Dog Obedience classes with Susan Overfield. Jager is doing real well and people are commenting on our very well behaved puppy dog. So lets hope she keeps this up!!! Today Jager was off-leash and responding very well to our commands. Eventually she wont have to be on-leash. Its nice that she is getting better about coming to us also.

Happy Halloween

Today we drove from G Falls to Stanford to spend the evening with Miss Lyla for "trick or treating". This year she was a butterfly. And a cute one at that!!! I made Lyla her Frankenstein halloween bucket and I think she loved it. She loves her Aunt Me Me and Uncle Bub (notice Lyla holdin Uncle Bub's hand) . We went to a kids halloween party with her at the Bar 87 (family pict of Jen, Lea, & Lyla out front) and then to houses of family and friends in Windham and Stanford. A highlight every year is going to Marion Danielsons in Windham for her homemade popcorn balls! Dad has been "trick or treating" there since he was a young kid. So I had to take a picture of them together for memories. By the end of the evening, Lyla was on a true sugar high. Her bucket was filled to the brim with lots of candy.

Back to Fall

After last weeks snow, as usual around here, we got back into some fall weather. The leaves that didnt freeze off, continued to change colors. Here are some pictures that Bob just took this morning of the tree in our front yard. Jager was also playing outside with us, chasing leaves and being obnoxious. Although she looks so well behaved in this picture, we are on our way this afternoon to get some obedience training from Susan Overfield http://www.overfieldkennel.com/ . We plan on posting pictures and videos of her progress.

Ready to Rent

These past weeks have been very busy for us. We have decided to rent my house in Stanford, but I will continue working in the salon. Since the home/salon are seperate, we can have a renter in the rest of the house. The major part has been figuring out what we want to keep, toss, and donate to Salvation Army. So after 2 loads to the dump, a huge load to Salvation Army, and the keep stuff, we have made a lot of progress. With the help of my dear mother and many hours of cleaning, it is ready to go.

First Snow

Here in G Falls we got our first real snow of the season. In G Falls we got about 4 inches of snow, but in Stanford there was 14 plus inches of snow. Here is a video of Jager testing out the snow for the first time.

Billings

Just getting home from the week in Billings. Bob was at a weather conference this week and also presented a study on "Snow Bands". He was pleased with how it went over and so was everybody else. Even though he was very nervous leading up to the presentation. While Bob was in meetings, I was out shopping, visiting friends, and checking out local scrapbooking stores. Since I lived in Billings for over 4 years, I know the area very well. Including all the great places to eat, drink, and socialize. The first night there we gathered with Bobs friends at the MT Brew Pub and enjoyed several micro brews and dinner. Then we ended up at the Carters-Rail Yard. . . . . a very fun bar and also a brewery next door. Later in the week, we also ate at: Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, & Pug Mahons (local Irish Pub with great Porkchop sandwiches and homemade chips). Also being how we always run into people I know, we ran into my cousin Rob Ridgeway at Pug Mahons. It was great to see him there. Also while in Billings I got to visit with many of my friends: Dottie and her son Carter, Megan and Britni. It was great to leave Great Falls for a while and we really enjoyed our week away.

Bath Time & More.....

Here are some picts of Jagers first trip to DQ (Dairy Queen) where she got her first icecream cone. Spoiled girl!!! Her bath times are getting better and better, it seems not to be so tramatic on her, plus we added some rubber duckies. :) She sat so good for us. She is 3 months old now, and weighs about 20 lbs. She has been great birth control for us as she is more than enough for us to handle at this time. She is alot of work, but tons of fun too!!! Bob has been working on fetching with her, and she seems to be catching on. . . . .

Tomorrow we leave for Billings for the Great Divide weather workshop. Jager will be coming along with us, however the hotel wont allow her to stay. So she will be having her first experience staying the nights in a pet boarding place. I am sure she will be fine, however it will be harder on us I suppose. The good thing is, I will get to hang out with her during the day while Bob attends the workshop. Also on Thursday he will be giving a presentation on "Banded convective snow over north central Montana". So proud of him! My weather geek!! :) Hopefully we will have some time during the week to take some photos, and perhaps catch some local scrapbook stores. Oh and cant forget the best part for Bob, trying out some local brewery's. . . . and we cant complain about a good beer!

Go Griz!!!

Just got back from a great weekend in Missoula watching the griz and enjoying beverages with friends! Also we wanted to post some new updated pictures of Jager! She is growing so fast, but still has plenty of learning to do!

Jager!!!

Here's our new Weimaraner puppy named Jager! We got her on August 26th from a breeder in Roundup MT. She was born on July 9th (the day after Melissa's birthday) and was 7 weeks old when we got her. Weimaraners were originally hunting dogs from Germany and Jager is the German word for hunter.

Honeymooners!
