Just wanted to share some pictures of inside our home this holiday season. Its hard to believe all the Christmas decorations a person has until you start opening all the storage totes will all your stuff! Oh my . . . . . we are really getting ourselves a collection! Well here a just a few pictures. Only 2 more days! This year we will be heading to my parents home in Stanford to spend Christmas with them, my sister Jen, Lea and our niece Lyla. We cant wait! Christmas is so much fun when you have a little one around to spoil! They make the holidays so much fun and bring so much joy!
I think winter is here to stay! I could do without the cold temps as I am sure most you feel and also the critters outside too. Our neighbor has a squirrel feeder and feeds them peanuts daily. So I noticed a really cold squirrel out on the feeder and he was all puffed up (trying to stay warm I'm sure). Just wanted to share! Enjoy today. . . . . Only 4 more days till Christmas!
Yesterday I took Jager to the Vet to get spayed. Poor little girl. She was going to spend the night until I asked if someone was at the clinic overnight with the dogs. Nope. . . . . So I requested that Jager come home with me that afternoon. No sense in her staying in a stange place all alone, when she could home with us and be more comfortable. Last night was a little ruff, since she has to wear the lamp shade thing on her head (so she wont lick the suctures). But she seems to be ok with out it on while just hanging out in the house. Plus we can keep an eye on her to make sure that shes not licking at her wound. Bob got home a little while ago from work and I think with the lack of sleep last night, he layed down on the couch, not only to find his little girl climbing up on his lap to take a nap with him. They are still laying on the couch together, both snoring, and I am telling you its very cute. Here are some pictures from today and last night of Jager re-cooping. I think she is doing good so far!
This year didn't have much snow on the ground, only in a few places. So instead of looking for the perfect tree on a snowmobile, we looked for our tree on a 4-wheeler. Our family tradition over the years has always been to go get our tree with the Fiedlers-our very close family friends. I enjoy the memories of all the years past and look forward in many more memories. We always have so much fun and truly enjoy ourselves. We are all absolutely blessed to have the family and friends that we do, and we are thankful everyday. The picture in the middle is a nest that we found in our Christmas Tree. You never know, just might have been 2 turtle doves or a partridge in an evergreen tree! ha ha. . . . Jager was even along to help us pick out the perfect tree. So our wonderful puppy dog decided to chew on one of my scrapbooking writing ink pens! Well as you can see she got it everywhere, including on our living room carpet. Thank heavens for good carpet cleaner and a carpet shampoo'er. In case you all are wondering, she is still alive. We thought about killing her, but I think we'd miss her!
So this evening the entire family went to a new German restaurant called "Smoke Haus Grill" in Sun Prairie which is just Northwest of Great Falls. Bob enjoyed one of his favorite meals-Schnitzel, spaetzel, and red cabbage. Then after dinner, we came back home to have birthday cake (pie). Lyla even helped Uncle Bub blow out his candles and open his presents. Jen & I got the peanut butter pie ready to eat while Dad, Lea, and Mom tried some of Bob's homebrew that he had on tap. Their favorite was the Kolsch beer. A lighter german style beer. Lyla played in the wrapping paper, and shredded paper before they had to leave. But before they left, Lyla gave Uncle Bub loves and told him "happy Birfday Bub". Made his day!!!
So the last few days Jager has been really limping around and we have noticed some major swelling on her right rear leg on her outer paw. When we had went to Puppy classes last Wed we had noticed some cactus and thought she might of gotten something stuck in her paw then, because we noticed her limping after that day. It has continued to get worse over the weekend, so today we took her to our awesome Vet- Rick Helms here in G Falls(who we have gotten to know quite well, since it seems like we have been there every other week since we got Jager). Once examining her, he said it looked like a broken toe which the X-ray confirmed. On the X-ray there is a diagonal fracture of the bone on the right side. Because of the type of break, nothing can be done for her other than baby aspirin every 12 hours. Sounds like it could take up to 6 weeks to heal on its own. The swelling should be reduced with the aspirin and will help with her pain and discomfort. We have no clue how she broke her foot, but I guess she could of just got it stuck or caught between something. Also we had to post pone her getting spayed until the middle of Dec so she can heal up her bum foot in the mean time. He didn't want her to have two wounds in at once . . . . . . . . Poor Jager! She is a tough girl!
Well, I(Bob) got out for a few days this weekend to go Elk hunting in the Little Belt Mountains south of Stanford. I have a spot that I like a lot, its up on a ridge with some high meadows. It takes some hiking to get into, but its worth the walk which I think helps keeps some of the competition out. While I havent gotten an elk yet, I had a great experience on Sunday when a dozen elk appeared in front of me and moved by me within 30 yards. I could of taken anyone I wanted, but decided to hold off as 10 of them were cows and 2 where young spikes. Still looking for that bull elk, but I might get less picky in the next week or two. I couldnt risk moving to get the camera while the elk where close, but here are some pictures of the area I was hunting.
